The structure of the doctoral study is based on the individual study plan which the doctoral student prepares in collaboration with his or her supervisor at the beginning of the first year and which is afterwards submitted to the subject council for approval. With approval of the supervisor and after it has been added to the individual study plan the doctoral students can enrol on optional courses according to their professional interest. However, there are also compulsory seminars in each study programme which have to be completed.

The course of studies, the final state exam and the defence of dissertation thesis is regulated by Study and Examinations Rules of CU, Rules for The Organization of Study on FSS CU, Dean's provision no. 6/2014 on organisation of postgraduate study on FSS CU, and framework study plans of particular programmes.

Individual study plan

In accordance with Rules of doctoral studies on FSS CU, individual study plans are tailored to the study profile of Political Science or International Relations doctoral student and particular topic of his or her dissertation thesis. IPS is then checked by the Centre for Doctoral Studies and approved by the supervisor and by the Study Board for the doctoral program. Individual study plan should be prepared in accordance with framework study plan of particular doctoral programme. Sample individual study plan can be downloaded from FSS website.
