The Annual of Language & Politics and Politics of Identity (ALPPI, ISSN 1803-1757) was conceived by a research group of PhD. students of the Institute of Political Studies of Faculty of Social Sciences at Charles University in Prague who have conducted a specific research relating to the widely discussed topic of Language Policy in all its aspects. In the first issue a range of articles on various implications of language and politics has been prepared by the authors and members of the research group. In the future we would like to broaden the content to the issues of political identity and extend the range of contributors to an international level. ALPPI is a reviewed journal committed to exploring divergent scholarly opinions, theories and ideas of current international and Czech experts, and is a forum for discussion and hopes to encourage free-thinking and debate among academics, young researchers and professionals over issues of importance to language politics and politics of identity.
