M.A. Kamil Klosek

Kamil Klosek completed his Bachelor studies in “Political Science” at the University of Mannheim in 2013. Subsequently, he enrolled in the Double Degree Master Programme of the University of Konstanz and Charles University where he graduated with “excellent” and “passed with honours”. During his time as Master student, he was a scholarship holder at the Friedrich Naumann Stiftung für die Freiheit. In his first year at the University of Konstanz, he worked as a research assistant for Dr. Ulrich Glassmann in the field of political economy, democracy analysis, comparative analysis of institutions, and corruption. His research interests cover the analysis of the causes of civil wars, factors influencing the duration of civil wars, the role of natural resources in civil conflicts, and the influence of transnational factors on the probability of civil war outbreaks. His implemented methodology uses established techniques from quantitative research (e.g. OLS, MLE, etc.). In his PhD dissertation, he analyses why third states influence non-state actors in order to initiate or prolong civil wars in foreign countries with a special focus on the role of natural resources.
