Alexei Anisin, Ph.D.

Alexei Anisin received his doctoral degree in Government at the University of Essex (UK) in 2016. His dissertation titled, “State repression, nonviolence, and protest mobilization” as well as subsequent research endeavors produced studies that have been published in outlets such as Politics, Groups, and Identities, The International Journal of Human Rights, The Journal of Civil Society, and Territory, Politics, Governance. As a postdoctoral researcher, he is working on a project titled, “Repression and Protest: A Comparative Analysis of Political Massacres,” in which he will compare mass waves of collective action, and identify the empirically reoccurring conditions and constraints that enable governments to exert severe one-sided violence towards civilians.
