Hana Kubátová, Ph.D.

Hana Kubátová is an Assistant Professor and head of the Center for the Transdisciplinary Research of Violence, Trauma and Justice (VITRI) at the Charles University.




Hana has an interdisciplinary profile and her areas of research include majority-minority relations, nationalism and nativism, in the past and today, as well as the social history of the Holocaust. She holds degrees from both the Central European University and the Charles University, be it from political studies, nationalism studies, and modern history.




She has been a recipient of numerous fellowships and grants, including a Marie Curie Fellowship, a Charles H. Revson Foundation Fellowship from the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, a Felix Posen Fellowship from the Vidal Sassoon International Center for the Study of Anti-Semitism, an Israel Government Scholarship, a Gisela Fleischmann Scholarship from the Milan Simecka Foundation, and more recently, a Junior Core Fellowship from the Institute of Advanced Study, Central European University, Budapest.




Hana has published in Slovak, Czech, German, Hungarian and English, and her contributions have been accepted in numerous scholarly outlets, including Nations and Nationalism, Contemporary European History, Holocaust Studies: Journal of Culture and History, Jewish Studies Yearbook at the Central European University, and others. She has recently co-authored The Jew in Czech and Slovak Imagination, 1938-89: Antisemitism, the Holocaust and Zionism (Brill, 2018) and co-edited Jews and Gentiles in Central and Eastern Europe during the Holocaust. History and Memory (Routledge, 2018).




Hana is an Executive Committee member of the European Consortium for Political Research, and a Holocaust Section Division co-chair for the Association for Jewish Studies.
