The Primus project RISE (Research in Societal Extremism) at the Faculty of Social Sciences invites applications for two paid PhD internship / research positions.

Duration: 1 January – 30 September 2026
Stipend: 15,000 CZK per month
Eligibility: PhD candidates from the Faculty of Social Sciences

About the Project

The RISE project investigates the nexus of online and offline societal extremism, with a focus on far-right mobilization, misinformation, online propaganda, and radicalization processes. The project seeks to understand how digital environments and offline social contexts interact in shaping extremist dynamics.

Position Description

We are looking for two motivated researchers who can contribute to different aspects of the project, including but not limited to:

  • Data collection (online and offline sources)
  • Data analysis (qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-method approaches)
  • Research framework development (conceptual and theoretical contributions)

Interns will work in close cooperation with the research team, attending regular weekly consultations and bi-weekly lab meetings. Meetings will be scheduled jointly by team members and the Principal Investigator.

Application Requirements

Applicants should submit the following documents:

  1. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  2. Motivation letter (200–300 words) explaining:
    • Your research interests and background
    • How your expertise aligns with the project themes
    • What you expect from the internship and how you could contribute to RISE
  3. Sample of Work (e.g., a published article, a work in progress, or a thesis)

Selection Procedure

  • The deadline for applications (CV and motivation letter) is 31 October 2025.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview with the RISE project team during November 2025.
  • Successful applicants will be notified in December and are expected to begin the internship on 1 January 2026.
