The project aims to create and implement a system for providing strategic information about the existing potential of security research in the Czech Republic and emerging opportunities in relation to new technological trends and changing needs of the security system. The project responds directly to the current need of the Czech Ministry of the Interior for methodological and analytical support for the development and implementation of security research policy and the acquisition of strategic information for the effective management of the security research system in the Czech Republic and its internationalisation.

Pandemics, inequality, migration, climate change: these are examples of major transnational challenges that can only be addressed through collective action on a global scale. But global rules, norms and institutions are under increasing pressure. What will it take to revive international cooperation in a time of great power rivalry and deepening crises? ENSURED is a three-year research project funded by Horizon Europe that will explore how the European Union can contribute to defending multilateralism – how to succeed in making global governance more robust, effective and democratic.

The PRIMUS project aims to showcase the shrinking gap between extremist movements and mainstream society, with both the offline and online world creating insecurities and opportunities for extreme discourse to manifest. At the same time, extremism itself is becoming increasingly blurred, with many groups piggybacking off one another and sharing similar ideological, aesthetic, and environmental traits. Told through four lenses, identity, gaming, gender, and conspiracies, our international team seeks to understand the most pressing issues revolving around societal extremism. 

This project explores the trajectories and motivations of mid-level elites of the fascist Slovak state—teachers, clergy, and lawyers—who were tried for collaboration yet later found ways to continue their careers under the communist regime. Mid-level actors function as intermediaries between state ideology and local realities. By tracing their personal and professional trajectories, we uncover patterns of adaptation, complicity, and survival, offering a new lens on how individuals navigated shifting political landscapes. This actor-centered approach bridges institutional and everyday analyses, providing an emotionally driven reading of repressive regimes’ inner workings.

The aim of the interdisciplinary project CZDEMOS4AI is to functionally connect experience and knowledge from the fields of SHUV (specifically law, ethics, pedagogy, history, media studies, security and psychology) with a technical solution from the field of artificial intelligence (AI) in order to create a socially responsible multi-agent AI assistant and study its perception in a small democratic society. The project is built on three basic pillars: (1) the creation of the assistant itself in four thematic areas (historical-educational, security-media, legal and mental-health and addiction) and the systematic processing of know-how, which will be replicable in similar contexts in the future; (2) the study of the ethical level of the process of creating and using the assistant with the aim of ensuring its compliance with the principles of an open democratic society; (3) the study and consideration of the perception of this type of assistant by the public in a small democratic society, also with the ambition to contribute to a more effective functioning of state and public administration in the area of ​​social resilience.
