The project aims to create and implement a system for providing strategic information about the existing potential of security research in the Czech Republic and emerging opportunities in relation to new technological trends and changing needs of the security system. The project responds directly to the current need of the Czech Ministry of the Interior for methodological and analytical support for the development and implementation of security research policy and the acquisition of strategic information for the effective management of the security research system in the Czech Republic and its internationalisation.

The PRIMUS project highlights the salience of history in foreign policy. Considering the instrumentalization of history in democracies, a process exacerbated by nativist populism, this project examines how troubled and traumatic pasts affect international relations. We analyse how memories of historical traumas shape contemporary policy across the EU and in Israel, and between European states and Israel. This project produces findings relevant to on-going policy debates concerning memory, populism, foreign policy, and European integration. The six-member PRIMUS team brings together researchers from the Czech Republic, the USA, the UK, and Israel.
