New deadlines for submission of final theses and fulfillment of study obligations

Institute of Political Science 

  • deadline for submission of bachelor's and master's theses is postponed to May 21, 2020,
  • deadline for fulfilling all the study obligations is postponed to June 12, 2020.

The range of summer exams for the state final examinations will be further specified in connection with the April decision of the Academic Senate of the Charles University regarding the proposed amendment of the Study and Examination Regulations of Charles University.

The date of submission of final theses and applications for the autumn state final examinations and the fulfillment of study obligations remains unchanged for all institutes (31 July 2020).

State of emergency - basic information

Dear all, 

As you might have already seen, the Czech Republic (government) has declared a state of emergency taking effect as of today (March 12 - for a period of 30 days) 2pm as a preemptive measure to combat the coronavirus outbreak. Czech citizens, permanent residents, and temporary residents (exceeding 90 days) are barred from travelling to the risk countries (15 most affected countries: China, Iran, Italy, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Germany, France, Switzerland, UK, Austria, Sweden, Belgium, Norway, the Netherlands, and Denmark). Non-residents from these countries will be barred (with the exception of permanent and temporary residents) from entering the Czech Republic. Also international transport (rail and road) will be suspended (as of March 14, 0:00 am), air-transport will be restricted to Vaclav Havel Airport only. 

Restaurants, pubs, bars will have restricted opening hours from 6 am to 8 pm. Gyms, swimming pools, libraries will be closed. Shops, pharmacies etc. will continue to operate as usual. There is no population lockdown such as in Italy.

Current situation

Dear all,

please see the information about the current situation at Charles University:

1) The classes are canceled from March 10th, 5 pm.

2) Students should get instructions from their teachers during the week.

3) The building stays open, however, consultation hours are canceled. Please use electronic consultations (by email).

4) IPS offices are opened, Open day for Ph.D. students is not cancelled

5) The secretary offices are open at normal times.
