Dr. Angelika Suchanová (Solovyeva) is an Assistant Professor and Deputy Head at the Department of Security Studies, Institute of Political Studies, Charles University. In her research, she focuses on the interplay between security and technology, with the primary focus on varying processes of political construction of warfare technologies. In particular, she specialises in arms control and disarmament, autonomous weapons systems, militarisation of artificial intelligence, nuclear deterrence and Russia's cultural approach to military-technological innovation. Her publications have appeared in Oxford University Press, Routledge, Palgrave Macmillan, Rowman and Littlefield, Scopus Q1-ranked and IF journals, including one of the field's leading journals on security and defence The RUSI Journal (published since 1857). She has also contributed or is contributing, among others, to research projects ranging from the Charles University Centre of Excellence "Human-Machine Nexus" to “Global AI Narratives” by the Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence (University of Cambridge) and the Global Security Programme (University of Oxford), as well as international expert and policy debates on military AI (commentary to the BBC; presentation of research to the European Defence Agency). Currently, she is leading one of the core teams of a national inter-disciplinary applied research project aimed at socio-technical alignment of a large language model (LLM) with the needs of the Czech society.
